Justify content, distribution and marketing methods identified for the planned production to meet a client brief (M1)

Content: 50 year old Richard has had young-onset dementia for 5 years. Not being allowed out the house by his family; he plans to sneak out, although he can't remember thinking about it.One night on the other hand, he plans and leaves his house. Knowing nothing about his whereabouts, he follows a figure in close proximity. Turns the same corner as the figure and it's gone; no where to be seen, he turns around to be surprised with the horrendous face of the figure.

My target audience are 15+ year olds. My short story appeals to this age range as it is unique, it can educate younger people whilst still scaring them; however, it also appeals to an older audience who have to experience someone in their life with dementia - this still applies to younger people but an older audience will more likely have dealt with it.

Distribution: I would like to initially distribute my film into cinemas as audiences generally prefer to see a film for the first time in cinema due to the atmosphere and I also believe that it will generate a lot of money for the cinemas and me. I would then like to distribute to streaming services like Amazon Prime, Netflix, AppleTV, Youtube etc. These two distribution methods would be beneficial as it will bring in revenue whilst still helping other companies. Based on the success from the cinemas and streaming services, I could also release it to DVD and add as many extra features as I can so customers would benefit from the extra media and make the DVD worth buying. DVD companies would also benefit but DVDs are not as popular so that would likely be my last option of distribution.

Marketing: I could also post the horror short to YouTube to advertise the feature film. Alongside this, I could create posters and do a real life marketing idea like the "Carrie" prank in the cafe.

I would start with posters so people see them and it makes them think about it, I would try to then create a real life marketing idea by going into public and jumpscaring either innocent people or hiring an actor to get scared. I could subtly have a poster around the area of the jumpscare so people can see it and understand what has happened. If I did it with real people I would brief them afterwards about the film and that it would be coming out in cinemas. After this act, I could release the horror short and ads on Youtube.
